ELWIRA JAGLOWSKI BRADY PHOTOGRAPHY & CREATIVE STUDIO
I'm a storyteller. My work is about those who in such highly materialistic times are under-represented or simply overlooked. I'm very passionate about portraits that tell stories. There is so much to be read from someone's eyes. They are mirrors of our puzzled psyche and personality. It is also about emotions and meanings that are so hard to articulate and often difficult to understand due to varied cultural, ideological and economic backgrounds. It is about richness of life in different realities personified through silent visual explosion.
Through my heritage portraits I want to celebrate the ancestral beauty of my sitter. I want our young people to feel comfortable in their own skin no matter what shade they are.
I put lots of love into preparing my portrait sessions including background research, crafting hand-made accessories and costumes, hair and make up styling. If i'm not making the pieces myself, I'd always try to use items that carry stories and are made by local communities whether in this country or abroad.
I've worked/collaborated with organizations such as VC, British Red Cross, Nubian Life, Autograph ABP, Lyric Hammersmith, Riverside Studios, Photofusion Brixton, Candid Galleries, Syracuse University N.Y. & Light Works N.Y. USA as well as St. Petersburg State University and Siberian Institute of Archeology RU. Work published in British publications such as Riverside Studios, FeFeast Festival, ETC Gallery & Studios, University of The Arts, The Voice Newspaper, BBC Radio London as well as internationally in N.Y. Contact Sheet Art Catalogue, Bahia Fashion Magazine, Wild Child Magazine, MOCHA NYC and German Photography Now.
